Attempting to be vegan for a whole day started out to be pretty easy but whenever I stopped being busy and was just sitting around with some friends, that's when it became difficult. Throughout the day my friend Taylor and I went strictly fruits and veggies along with water and we were able to make it till around 9 o'clock friday night. That's when everyone we were with, including us were extremely hungry, and both of us had been craving panda express, so we couldn't hold off any longer and gave up and got panda. We had ginger, spinach, apples, pears, etc. all from organic foods from sprouts, and we would juice them and make drinks out of it, that is all we had from the morning time till 9 p.m. We started out strong and felt perfectly fine while we swam and played volleyball, the only thing that got us was when we were sitting around being lazy at night, and thats when hunger took over and we had to eat meat. It was fun to try, but i've figured out that going vegan just isn't my thing.
ReplyDeleteI decided that going vegan on a day that already started vegan during our 2nd period "vegan party" would be convenient and encouraging. I also knew I would have a lot of food to comment on, how it tasted, what it made me feel like, and what was new and exciting or food that I ate everyday or had no idea was vegan. That morning I tried several foods: organic-vegan pastries, spinach dip, queso, pudding cake, chips and hummus, pancakes etc...Most of the food tasted great. The pudding cake was amazing! And the queso tasted practically like any other queso. Since I forgot my vegan dish at home, mac-n-uncheese, I ate it by myself when I got home so that I could try another vegan dish and remain vegan throughout the day. It was awkward tasting and not very smooth or creamy. It was starchy and did not have a pleasant texture. But I still got it down. That night, my family made a nonvegan dish to the extreme...scrambled eggs with ham and cheese. I decided to buy my own food since I was going to work that night anyways. I went to Sprouts and bought myself avocado rolls. They are vegan! And delicous. And nutritious. Overall, my meals were healthy and I felt better because of it. I didn't eat anything packaged in plastic, as far as I can remember, and that changes the way your body feels after eating. You feel more energized and less gross/disgusting.
ReplyDeleteI went vegan for one full day at really it was not hard at all, I already love salad and fruits and other vegan products so having these types of food be the only thing I was allowed to eat was kind of a reward. Not to mention I felt great after!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed my vegan day and all though at times I would almost forget it was still really easy and enjoy able. I saved money by not going out to eat and I truthfully enjoyed what I ate more than I would have if I had gone out.
in the morning I had 2 cereal bars, for lunch I had a salad, and for dinner I had rice and cooked veggies. (rice is vegan because it is the seeds of a plant) overall it was a great experience and I would definitely do it again!!
On the special day of the vegan party in ESS class, I was influenced to celebrate the vegan occasion the whole day. If there was one thing that was very different about the vegan diet, it was that I was very cautious about everything I consumed. Experiencing this routine, after my meals including the salad I had for lunch and the vegetable pancake I had for dinner, I felt hungrier but more physically healthier. Of course I also felt very eager to eat cereal with milk and the meat filled meals that are inviting. I fought the urge and ate a lot of fruit throughout the day for snacks and especially desert. This was a challenge that definitely wakened my concerns for daily foods and nutrients and I had fun participating in the eating test.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast: For breakfast I had corn flakes with almond milk. I'm not sure if I liked or disliked the almond milk. It was different but I would definitely try it again sometime. Personally, it didn't make me feel much different than regular milk.
ReplyDeleteLunch: For lunch my friends and I went to Zenzero and I choose to get a salad. I had to ask for no meat in it since it normally comes in the salad. I love eating salads because they make you feel like your body is cleansed. So a salad was a very good choice for lunch.
Dinner: Dinner was definitely the hardest meal to "veganize." My family had meat so I was not allowed to have it since I became a vegan for the day. I live right next to sprouts so I drove over there with my sister and we looked for something that I could eat. I found veggie burgers and they were delicious. They don't look very good but they actually were.
Overall eating vegan meals made me feel more cleansed and healthier. Usually after I eat a meal I feel stuffed and my stomach hurts. Eating this food made me full but not stuffed like the usual. I realized that I need to start eating less meat and more of veggies and such.
The process of being completely vegan for an entire day wasn’t hard it just took a little more effort. I started off my day by eating a banana. That was simple and normal for me. Then for lunch I enjoyed a large dose of hummus and pita bread! At this point in the day I was feeling good. No junk food and I still got to eat the foods that I loved. Then later on I snacked upon snap peas and carrots. For dinner I made pasta that was served up with olive oil, avocados, tomatoes, and fresh peppers. The process of being vegan for a day turned out to be fun because I was forced to be more creative with my food choices. I would do it again but I am not sure I could make it my life.
ReplyDeleteGoing vegan was definitely a challenge for me. As someone who eats meat every day it is especially hard to go a day without meat and other animal products.
ReplyDeleteFor my first meal, I woke up at about 12:00 saturday and I decided to make myself a piece of bread with some peanut butter on it. Then my mom and I made a salad with tomatoes, onions, and nuts. It was okay, but I had to eat a lot to get full. I waited until like 6:00 to eat dinner and by that time I was very hungry. My vegan day was impromptu so I didn't have the ingredients to make anything other than another salad. I enjoy salad but if I were to become vegan I would definitely need to find something else to eat. I did gain a new perspective because of this project but at this point it's just not feasible for me to become a vegan.
I'm a vegetarian, have been for a couple of months now. But going vegan, now that's something else. Meat isn't hard to give up. Surprisingly, it was rather easy to go without it. But cheese... Now that nigh impossible. Because i don't have meat i have to use fillers, and cheese is my "go to" filler. I know i could find a vegan cheese but i don't know how i'd feel about it. I'm going through today as a Vegan, and so far so good. But i'm worried about when I go to work and i can't eat ANYTHING. I'll be eating a lot of Asian style food today so i'm not worried. But i don't think i could do this for a lifetime like i think i can being a vegetarian. There's just so many limits, and well as history can tell, i don't do well with a lot of limits.
ReplyDeleteI first off want to say that I’m sorry for turning the blog post in late, but I really wanted to try going vegan for an entire day. It was very hard for the fact that a good portion of my diet consist of meat and non-vegan elements. Since I could not consume meat I went to the rabbit food of choice, salad! I have learned to make a great salad but haven’t eaten them much but I will now because I have learned to make them really good the all the nuts and extras you can add to them. I also ate more fruit than usual because I was hungry and that’s what ate instead of a non-vegan snack. In addition to eating all of these things I ate beans and natural unsalted nuts in order to consume protein needed for the day. It was interesting to me that I felt somewhat decent at the end of the day, I expected to feel bad and have no energy but I did have a little bit more energy than I usually do.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the Vegucation documentary I have to say it was not too difficult shying away from a cheeseburger or an order of chicken tenders. I couldn't tell if I was inspired by the film or just plain disturbed by the animal cruelty but either way I wasn't craving any sort of meat. However, it was difficult to completely eliminate all milk, cheese, and eggs from my diet which I didn't come to realize just how much of these ingredients I take in daily until I was forced to replace them with vegan approved foods. On Sunday I started my day with a banana, some granola and a glass of orange juice instead of my usual plate of waffles and glass of milk. For lunch I would typically have some sort of sandwich or maybe some mac and cheese but yesterday I had to trade in my usual PB&J for a cup of tomato soup. I found myself snacking on carrots and hummus instead of the usual baked goods or chips. For dinner I had a baked potato free of the typical cheese and butter with a side of garlic bread and veggies. I had to stay cautious of what meals I ate and even the smallest ingredients I added, like butter to bread. Overall, I felt refreshed to have eaten no animal products and challenge myself for the betterment of my health. I think the hardest part about vegan eaters is the initial adjustment and the breaking of old habits.
ReplyDeleteOn Friday I decided I would go vegan as my challenge. It actually was not as hard as I was anticipating for a few reasons. One, my whole website is about going vegan. This was to my advantage because going vegan was already something I was interested in and I wanted to actually test the waters. Two, I have done detox diets before in which you eat fruits and veggies for 10 days so I figured if I can do that then this should not be too bad. Three, I always eat fruit for breakfast and a salad for lunch, so half my day is usually vegan to begin with. However, at home was challenging. Throughout the day I ate a Naked brand fruit smoothie, a salad at lunch with various veggies and vinaigrette dressing, some veggie straws as a snack, followed my fruit and another salad for dinner. The dinner salad was a little harder to be content with since my mom brought home Freebirds and I LOVE FREEBIRDS. However, i survived just fine. Although I did not feel "full" as much as I do while eating a nonvegan diet, I did feel more alert and content. I just felt healthy, I do not know how else to explain it. Overall going vegan for a day was a good experience because it was nice to actually do what my website is about so I have a true opinion. I do not think I could ever go fully vegan but I can definitely cut down on my food waste and eat a more vegan diet...maybe be like 80% vegan haha!
ReplyDeletei chose this challenge because i thought it would be the most difficult one, and i am always up for a challenge. i eat meat pretty much everyday and i think its really good. The day before i tried the challenge i planed it all out on a sheet of paper of what i was going to eat the next day. As i planned what i was going to eat i tried to find vegan foods that i enjoyed already to make it a little bit more easy to complete this challenge. For breakfast i made myself some avocado toast. I love avocados so i thought the toast was delicious. i will definitely be having it again in the future. For lunch my mom prepared me a tempeh deli salad. The salad didn't taste all that bad but when i was finished i felt like i didn't eat enough. For dinner i found a delicious pasta recipe that sounded really good. it had a lot of different types of spices and sauces. It was really good i would definitely have it again in the future. For me eating vegan is a hard thing to do. i will probably never go vegan, but i will eat vegan sometimes because some of the meals i actually enjoy. another thing is i do feel healthy after i eat vegan food but at the same time a feel like i didnt eat much.
ReplyDeleteI decided to have my vegan day on the day of the Vegan party. I got to try a ton of delicious vegan foods. I really liked the kale dip and the vegan cinnamon rolls the best. There were even vegan poptarts! I don't know why poeple think vegan people starve cause I ate like a pig and it was all vegan. For dinner I had edamame mixed with rice and soy sauce. I ate snacks like nuts and raw veggies and fruits. This was an enjoyable experience and I didn't find it too challenging. I felt healthy and happy to experience something new.
ReplyDeleteIt was not even big deal to go vegan for day. The changes were small and doable. One of the biggest changes I made for this was my breakfast because i always have a smoothie for breakfast and instead i had an apple and banana. In reality, I wouldn't even have to change this because I could get soy milk. We had garden pasta for lunch and for dinner the main dish was meat but I just had a full serving of the salad instead and it wasn't that big of a deal. Avoiding meat has always been something I did when I ran because it makes me feel lighter and I don't have to plan my runs around the time I ate. What relatively the hardest part was avoiding dairy since i'm so used to having chocolate milk all the time. But we used to only buy soy chocolate milk so it's not really a problem. I guess i just have to buy soy milk. I think it would be more difficult when i'm having a busier day and I just eat whatever is easily available.
ReplyDeleteI decided to go vegan for saturday. I thought that this would be the simplest one that would have the most impact on me. From learning about veganism in ESS, i have already decided to go vegetarian. On saturday for breakfast, I had apples with peanut butter and toast with raspberry jam. I usually will have a bagel with cream cheese or eggs for breakfast, and iI felt less full from this so I was drinking alot of water through the day to help myself feel fuller and feel better and healthier. At lunch my friend Emily and I went to have sushi as is our tradition every Saturday. I usually get a fancy roll with salmon or crab but I got a avacado roll and it was really delicious (as all sushi is) and had miso soup and a small seaweed salad. It was really delcious. For dinner my parents made pasta from the local farmers market with red sauce. My dad makes this somewhat often so it wasn't much different. Overall I didn't find it that hard but I still wanted to have cheese on my pasta and a fancier sushi roll. I don't think it would be that hard to go vegan if I really had a heart for it but I don't think I will go vegan, just because I love cheese and fish so much.
ReplyDeleteWhen I decided to go vegan last saturday, I thought it would be very difficult. I opened my fridge and I really had to dig to find something to eat. So, I kept digging and I found the vegan cheese and butter I used for the vegan party. I then looked for the tomato spread, found it very quickly. So all day long I just ate the sandwiches from the veagn party. I had also gone to the store and gotten those chips Colton had brought to the party also.
ReplyDeleteI decided just to give this challenge a try and I found it hard because most of the things that I eat are not vegan. I didn't really plan out what I was going to eat, I just made sure that before I ate anything it was vegan. For breakfast, all I ate was 2 pieces of toast with grape jelly and water. Lunch wasn't too much of a challenge on deciding what to eat. I decided to have a cesar salad, some garlic bread on the side, and water to drink again. Dinner was fairly tricky because I didn't want to eat another salad. I finally decided to have fried rice without meat and egg in it. It wasn't as good as usual because I didn't have meat and egg in it but it was the best meal I had all day. This challenge wasn't too hard but I didn't really like it because I had to actually think about what I was eating, when I usually just think of something and get that. Trying to be vegan for a day was interesting to say the least
ReplyDeleteGoing vegan was easier than I expected. I'm sure it would get easier as time went on because I would get familiarized with the vegan food that I have to eat to replace my normal eating habits.
ReplyDeleteI decided to go vegan two days after the party. Because I had to stock up on food, and plan out my meals. My dad thought I was crazy. But for breakfast I ate captain crunch peanut butter. with soy milk. Which was good, i couldn't taste the difference. I almost shouted when i realized that Redbull was vegan, i love that stuff. For lunch i had four uncrustables, 2 that were berry and the other two were strawberry. And orange juice. And for dinner i had spaghetti and ragu pizza sauce which tastes just the same. Overall it was hard for me to find food, but I felt better after eating for sure.
I choose to go vegan for a day. It wasn't all that hard to go vegan because on the few things I eat during the day I cut out the non vegan parts of the food. For breakfast I had bagels without cream cheese. For lunch I had soup that only had veggies. For dinner I had tacos but i left the meat out of the taco. It wasn't that bad. I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was going to be from going vegan for a day.
ReplyDeleteGoing Vegan for a full day was hard, I could not imagine being vegan for real. I do eat a lot of meat and dairy products so it was very hard to change my eating habits to fit the vegan diet. It started out easy, eating a couple nuts for breakfast..It was not really and issue because I don't like breakfast anyways so not really eating was easy. As I went through my day it became harder and harder to find food to eat. For lunch I had fruit and carrots and pretty much gave up after that because I don't have vegan food at my house. I drank a lot of water to make up for the little amounts of food I was eating. For dinner my mother made pasta and meatballs but I did not eat the meatballs. Overall I learned how hard it was to really maintain a vegan diet. I would not say I fully went vegan because I didn't have the foods to do so but I did my best and enjoyed the expierence.
ReplyDeleteOn Friday, I chose to go vegan. And contrary to everyone else's comment, it was ALOT harder than I expected. Thursday night I went to sprouts and bought vegan items that would last me for the day. I got some lemon poppy seed muffins, similar to the ones we had in class, and ate those for breakfast. I was so close to getting a big cup of milk to drink with them, but I didn't so instead I had to drink water. At around 12 I ate some pita chips and hummus which was awesome as usual. I realized that I had alot more energy eating this food versus the food I normally eat. I had to go to work later that day so it kind of got diffucult to pick what I wanted to eat for lunch/dinner. So for lunch, I had a salad but while I was dressing it I accidently put ranch on it. So I threw it away and started over, and had to eat it without ranch which ok, but obviously not as good. For dinner, I decided to buy some ramen noodles at work and I went out on a limb and added tofu to it. Suprisingly enough, it wasn't half bad at all! I was shocked. Overall, going vegan was very diffcult and I had to remind myself so many times about what I could/couldn't eat for that day. I felt better after eating the foods that I did, but there is no way that I could do that for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeleteDeciding to become vegan for a day at first didn't seem that bad, but eventually it got way worse throughout the day. I woke up on Saturday and ate watermelon and an apricot for breakfast. I wanted coffee, but I only like it with sweetener and milk so I had to do without, which wasn't that bad. Then, it got to be about lunch time and I started getting super hungry. I had strawberries and more watermelon, but of course I wanted something more than that. I ate a peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread, but it was super hard not getting to drink milk with it. I had to resort to juice and water. Then I went to a graduation party and holy cow that was rough. There were burgers, cupcakes, chocolate and much more. I wasn't hungry enough for a burger so that was good even though they smelled amazing. I had a bag of chips and yet again, I had fruit. There was pineapple and it was delicious but I could not get passed the beautiful platter of cupcakes. I gave in and had an Oreo cupcake...whoops! After that I was full enough to go to work without eating again, thankfully. After work was beyond work considering I work at a BBQ restaurant. And I didn't really have a last resort so...I ate brisket and mac and cheese. So by the end of the day I didn't want anymore fruit, and I didn't know what else to eat so i realize vegans must do lots of research to figure out what to eat.
ReplyDeleteBeing vegan was surprisingly not as hard as I thought it would be. I felt really energized and awake all day, and not sick once! i ate allot of fruit as well as some really stellar lettuce wraps. I might continue this diet for a while, I like it allot! Thanks Angela!:)
ReplyDeleteTwo words can only describe this amazing experience; SWEET SAUCE. This common saying "sweet sauce" is how i describe my wonderful experience because everything i ate on this diet was bitter. The way to eat everything i encountered was to drown it down with sweet sauce. Nah im just kidding, i actually really liked going vegan for a complete day. I felt fresh, clean, and ready to literally take on the world. I spent most of my day outside due to the fact that I felt like I was one with nature and friend with the vegetable ecosystem. Its surprising how easy it is to be vegan! alot of things are already vegan such as OREO's and Teddy Grahams and such. So its easy to say that I could live off those two things if i stayed vegan. Once again was actually really surprised with this experience and might do it again soon
ReplyDeleteWhen I decided to go vegan on thursday I didn't think it would be that hard. After going through the day and getting near to dinner time it was. In the morning I had a banana and grapes. I took a fruit snack to school in case I got hungry through out the day. When it came lumch time I forgot to pack my lunch so I had a salad from the school store. It was really good but not very filling. By the time I got home I was very hungry and realized being vegan means that you have to plan your meals the day before because you cant just go in the fridge and grab anything. I felt good and found myself having more energy throughout the day because I had some energizing jucie from smoothie factory and ate nothing but fruits and vegs all day. Being a vegan takes a lot of focus and work but has benefits in the end. I liked being vegan and I would like to contiune having vegan days once a month until one day I become vegan.
ReplyDeleteGoing vegan for one full day wasnt as hard as I expected. There was a lot of positives that came with being vegan. I normally have a terrible eating habit which normally ends up as me not having much energy and really sleepy but when I changed vegan for a day, I found that not only was I eating healthy but I also felt a lot better physically. I had energy and I felt better than normal.
ReplyDeleteFor the majority, I had salads and fruits and vegtables. Just from that, I was full and felt great!
It was a great experience and I don't think I'd go completely vegan but I'd defintely widen the variety of fruits and vegtables I have later in the future.
On Sunday, I decided to go vegan. At the beginning of the day, I thought I was in for a really mentally and physically hard day, and boy was I right. First, I was unable to eat my usual breakfast of egg and meat. So, I browsed around until I found an apple and a banana. I willingly ate it, as there were no vegan-like breakfast items in my house. This did not fill me up, so I just drank at least 4 cups of water to fill me up. I had to survive until lunchtime without eating anything as most of my snacks contained some sort of dairy product. For lunch, I cooked up some rice and beans and ate it. Usually, I put some type of sauce on my rice since it helps with the taste and flavor; dry rice and beans are really not satisfying. So, after a highly unsatisfying breakfast and lunch, I just loafed around and tried to wait for dinner as I felt really lethargic due to a seemingly lack of energy. Dinnertime rolled around and I was really hungry. I was about to om-nom-nom some chicken and corn when I remembered that I was going vegan. Disappointed, I made a salad with lots of veggies and it was rather satisfying. So, at the end of the day, my breakfast and lunch were rather unfulfilling while my dinner was filling. Looking back on Sunday, I realized that the vegan life is not for me. I had to struggle through one day and I realized that some people eat like this everyday. I understand that eating vegan is really healthy, but after every meal, even dinner, I just did not feel as satisfied as I did whenever I ate meat. So, for me, I'm still sticking to my balanced diet of meats and veggies.
ReplyDeleteI attempted to go vegan for an entire day on Saturday, May 25. It ended up proving to be a little bit easier than I originally anticipated.
ReplyDeleteI woke up around 9 a.m. and sat down to breakfast with my All of my meals and daily routines had to be altered in order to maintain the strict vegan diet, but I was still able to eat some things I enjoyed and (most) of the vegan substitutes weren't too bad. I wouldn't be able to go a long period of time as a vegan, but it wasn't too difficult as a one day experiment.
family. They were having coffee cake and bacon, which I love. It was very hard to smell the great food and not be able to join in and eat it. Instead, I had whole grain cereal with soy milk and some apple slices. This was a refreshing and tasty breakfast in its own right, and I was satisfied. I didn't feel stuffed after breakfast like I sometimes do when my family has a big meal like coffee cake and bacon.
Throughout the day, I snacked on flavored Kale chips and Coco-roons (vegan snacks from Sprout's) as well as dried cherries and plain cashews to quell my hunger. These first two snacks tasted strange at first and it took awhile for me to get used to them. I still don't particularly like them, especially not the cheese-flavored Kale chips. Giving up my normal snacks like chips and chocolate was probably the hardest part of this experiment. The vegan replacements were inadequete to say the least. However, I learned that the huge difference in tastes probaby reflects the huge difference in how natural and nutritious the two sides are. That scares me about my old diet. Cashews and dried cherries are snacks I normally consume, so I was glad to still be able to eat them as a vegan.
My family was grilling barbecue chicken for dinner. This smelled amazing and it was hard not to try some. My family was not very understanding about why I was trying veganism, but my mom gave in and bought me some tofurkey to eat as a replacement for the chicken. The tofurkey slices were similar to the ones Mrs. Binder brought to our class party. Despite the strange texture, I actually somewhat enjoyed the tofurkey slices. I ate plain white rice and green beans on the side for what turned out to be an enjoyable meal. I wish we would've had some vegan barbecue sauce for me to dip my tofurkey in! After dinner, my family had ice cream. I instead had "Rice Dream", which is rice milk ice cream. We already had this because my little sister is allergic to milk. I added some Oreos to the ice cream to give it some flavor.
All in all, the vegan experiment was successful. For one day I did not consume any animal products. I had to change all of my meals and eating habits in order to maintain the strict vegan diet, but I was still able to eat some things I enjoyed. I wouldn't be able to go a long period of time as a vegan because I need protein and strongly dislike many of the protein-rich meat substitutes like beans, but it wasn't too difficult as a one day experiment. If I were to become a vegan, I wouldn't be able to do it suddenly in one day, cold turkey. It would have to be something I slowly transitioned into and re-teach myself dietary habits. I understand the importance of this issue to our planet and our future as a species and will strongly consider becoming vegetarian or even vegan in the future as a result of this challenge.
Going vegan for a whole day isn't as hard as you would think, and actually, it's recommended by doctors to go vegan at least one day each week. They say this because it helps your body digest food more efficiently, and it's healthier for your body. I enjoyed going vegan, even if it was for just one day. Over the summer I tried this diet, that basically could have been a vegan diet, and I actually really enjoyed it. You feel so much healthier and have so much more energy. I ate a plethora of veggies and fruits throughout the day, and had a baked potato for dinner. I also drank a ton of water. The only downside to becoming a vegan for life for myself, is that since I'm involved in such a time consuming sport, I can't not eat meat. The week over the summer I felt great, except when I would try to go work out. I always felt like I had a lot of energy, however, I never really did. So this is not the lifestyle for me, unfortunately. I do enjoy going on a vegan diet every now and then, however, and will do my best to go on it more often.
ReplyDeleteI decided to go vegan for a day, because I thought it would be pretty easy. For the no impact challenge, I went without red meat for 4 days, which made up a majority of the meat I consume. I was able to do that for 4 days, so I thought this would be easy. For lunch, I went to chipotle and got the vegetarian burrito, with no pinto beans since they are made with bacon. Instead it was full of rice, black beans, guac, salsa, lettuce, tomato sour cream and corn, and it was actually really good for not having any meat in it. Unfortunately, I went with my dad and friends to my favorite burger restaraunt that night. They had a black bean burger that I considered, but instead unfortuantely I relapsed and had a double cheesburger with chili. Oops. I couldnt go one day vegan on my first try, but will try again soon!
ReplyDeleteI ate completely Vegan yesterday, and it wasn't hard for me. Being someone who is already very conscious about what I eat and how it affects my body, I always eat pretty healthily; now it was just a question of me cutting out meats, dairy, and everything to classify it as a Vegan day. For breakfast I had whole-grain oatmeal with banana slices in it with water to drink. I have a huge bag of raw, uncooked almonds that are in my pantry that I carried around with me all day and ate about a handful every hour as a snack. For lunch, I ate a tofurkey sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes with a cup of mandarin oranges. I had another banana a few hours after lunch and then for dinner, I ate a lot of pasta and an apple. At the end of the day, I felt very unsatisfied and was left with a craving for dairy products. I did feel good, but not any different than I feel when I eat like I normally do. Regardless, I think that Vegan diets are healthy and that they are also an acquired taste, and I applaud people who can stay on them for a long period of time.
ReplyDeleteOkay so...being vegan for a day was definitely harder than i thought it would be. At first I was planning on not really eating all day and just munch off of dry foods and water and stuff, but I eat way too much food a day to not eat full meals. I didn't realize how much I ate food that cant be classified as healthy. I definitely would not be able to become vegan for life, because my taste buds are not accustomed to the way healthy food tastes. That sounds pretty bad, but its the truth.
ReplyDeleteI chose to do the vegan challenge for one day because I went vegetarian for the no impact challenge and thought it was fairly easy to do, so I decided to take it to the next level and go vegan for the day. My diet for the day was mainly composed of veggies and fruits. Going vegan for the day was not too bad, however, I do not think I could do it for more than one day. I felt healthier but I felt empty because the foods I consumed lacked substance. Although this is not a diet I could have everyday, I think it would be good to go vegan more often because it encourages me to eat a healthier diet and it makes me think about what I am eating.
ReplyDeleteCarrying trash with you all day is harder than you think. All day Saturday I carried trash with me every where I went. I had a pop tart Saturday morning then for lunch I had Sonic with a drink. So I just had the trash bag in my car. It was really annoying having it with me it would get in the way some times and it started to smell. I had a few more snacks like chips and other things. For dinner I had Chinese food and that was the last of what i had that day. All in all it wasn't as hard as i thought just a pain to have it and the smell was bad but it really showed how much trash we carry with us in a day and how much we go through
ReplyDeleteI decided to go vegan for one day, because I thought it would be interesting to see how hard it was, and how i felt at the end of the day. I had a bagel for breakfast, and I would usually put cream cheese on it, but I put peanut butter instead. For lunch I had a salad, usually when i have a salad, I like to pile on the meat, hard-bolied eggs, and cheese, so it was not very tasty. I ate a pretty large salad, so I was actually pretty full. For dinner my family was having spaghetti, and my mom makes awesome meat balls, so that wasn't really fun to just eat pasta with no meat and no cheese, but it still tasted pretty good. I felt fine, but not any different than usual. Overall, it was an interesting experience, but personally not worth continuing.
ReplyDeleteGoing vegan for a day didn't turn out to be as hard as I had originally planned. I started off the day with some various fruits including strawberries, bananas, and blueberries, and make a very good smoothie with ice and soy yogurt. For lunch and dinner I had a salad with croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots. I wasn't sure what dressings I could use so I ended up just squeezing some lemon juice on top. It was difficult for dinner because my mom cooked steak for my brother and dad. Although I did get to have a baked potato as well. I felt really hungry around dinner time, more than usual, but I just had a bigger salad. Overall, it was a good experience, and I could tell my body appreciated the healthier diet.
ReplyDeleteBeing vegan for a dead is a hard task for someone who is as active as i am, i workout at least 3 times a day so not eating pork, beef, steak and chicken for a or two made my body feel bad at the same time good i felt healthier after every meal unlike if i ate a burrito from chipolata or hamburger at home but it also made my belly feel empty which i didn't like but other than that i loved it im already a big fan of fruits and the leafy greens so being vegan was kind of a treat to me so over all maybe i will change me diet and stop eating certain meats gradually.
ReplyDeleteI decided to go vegan for a day and it wasn't that difficult for me because i stayed busy throughout the day. I was working all of saturday and since i stayed busy it was easy for me to forget about eating. It started off by waking up 30 minutes before i had to be there, i had to be at work at 12 and as soon as i went in there was a rush so i immediately went to work. I usually never eat in the morning so it was easy for me to go throughout that part of the day without much difficulties. As soon as it started to slow i went to the back with a container of the fruit salad we sell there to start to get the orders for that night organized. When i got done organizing i was pretty satisfied and i went back out and continued my shift, towards the end of my shift i started to get hungry again and i got another one of the fruit salads and ate pieces of it in the back every time i got the chance to. After work i got invited to go eat out with by some of my friends but i had already made plans and that made it easier for me to not go out with them and give in on eating something that isn't vegan.
ReplyDeleteI managed to go vegan for about a day (if eating a non vegan snack past midnight doesn't count). I think I can probably go vegan for a day once every few weeks or so. I don't think being vegan for a day is that difficult, but I just don't prefer that lifestyle. I had to bring my lunch to school that day which is hard for me because I'm lazy, and I had to check every single ingredient in the foods that I ate. I'm sure maybe over the summer I could start making my own meals which would lean more towards vegetarian/vegan food, but I will admit that being vegan for a day is definitely a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI decided that i would go vegan for a day. It wasn't all that hard to go vegan because on the few things I eat during the day I cut out the non vegan parts of the food. For breakfast i had pancakes. For lunch I had vegetable soup. For dinner I had Soba noodles with peanut sauce. It wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. I thought i wouldn't be able to make it through the day or be really hungry by the end of the day. Surprisingly i wasn't and managed to go vegan one full day.
ReplyDeleteBeing vegan for a day was simple since I am currently vegetarian. I ate fruit salad for breakfast, a salad with avacado, tomato, and peppers for lunch, and dinner was a black been party on a wheat bun with onions, tomatos, and avacado. My dessert was berries! I loved being vegan for a day, and I feel healthier than I felt when I are processes foods and meats. I recommend this life style at least twice a week to cut down on your carbon foot print, and also to live a healthier life. Oh, and for snacks I had pistachios, dried pineapple, and dried dates. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI decided to be vegan for a day because I thought it would be cool to try it out and see how I could adapt. To my surprise, it actually wasn't that hard at all. I always thought that being vegan would be a struggle because I rely too much on animal products in my food, but I never realized how much I don't really rely on animal products in my food... At the beginning of the day it wasn't all that bad, had my coffee and my banana. Nothing big changed, but during the day was when it got a little harder. During lunch I usually get either pizza or a sandwich, but since both are not allowed I looked for something different and vegan friendly. I settled on a salad, pita chips and hummus, and fruit. Funny because it was actually better than my normal lunch.. (: Then for dinner I wasn't too hungry so I just made a little garlic, herbs, and olive oil pasta and that was the end of my vegan day! At the end of the day, I did feel healthier since I had healthy meals that day. I was surprised by how easy it was, and how easily I adapted too it. Maybe in the future, I'll give being a vegan a shot.
ReplyDeleteI tried to be a vegan for one day which was very interesting being that im all about everyting anti-vegan but i tried, i ate chips all day the sun chips garden flavor thinking they were the hippiest chip you can get, after about 3 oclock the chip only diet made me sick i felt terrible all day and my mom brought home a burrito bowl from chipotle and i couldnt resist, sorry. I dont think i could ever be vegan
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested to see what being a vegan would be like. Honestly... It wasn't that bad. You just have to think ahead and order things a little more specifically when you go out to eat. It was a busy day over the weekend where I had to wake up early to go to work, so I went downstairs and made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, filled up my work bottle with water, and headed over to my job. Because I work at the AMC Theater at the Grapevine Mills Mall, I am used to taking a lunch break at the food court. During my break I searched the food court for a vegan option (and there really aren't any vegetarian options there which surprised me). I ran across a crepe-making restaurant and ordered a tomato-basil crepe without the cheeses (which was the only option without meat even...) and it was REALLY good. For a dessert I got a strawberry-banana-pineapple smoothie made with vegan orange sherbert, and went back to work. Much better lunch than something like Sonic or that sketchy chicken restaurant. That night my family ate all vegan (since I had informed them what I was doing and what being vegan entailed) and I tried veggie burgers for the first time. It is very true that I like the sauces associated with meat more than the meat itself because I gobbled it up with some ketchup and mustard. I went to bed feeling fine and honestly once I have more time to plan out my meals this summer I would be fine with going a bit vegan (with some cheat days of course).
